Hour of Code invades Star Wars Universe

Code.org aims to expand computer science education and as the world prepares for the release of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, the non-profit organization has teamed up with Disney and Lucasfilm to create “Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with Code”, part of its annual free tutorial in computer coding.

The initiative aims to teach basic computer coding to students and are highly interactive. The tutorials will be available for free in more than 180 countries and is called “Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with Code”.

The upcoming Hour of Code campaign will feature familiar classic characters such as C-3PO and R2-D2 — as well as the new droid BB-8 and Rey from The Force Awakens.

Star Wars: Building a Galaxy with Code will introduce kids to Javascript and allow them to build their own Star Wars games using drag-and-drop blocks and javascript, separated into two tutorials programs.
