This is from my personal point of view. I love video games, been a video gamer since I was a very young boy. I had the digital football games, the smaller versions of Donkey King that looks like the little arcade game, that looked like this…
I’ve had all sorts of video game systems, ranging from the Atari 2600, to the ColecoVision, to the first Nintendo (NES), then the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES), to the Sega Master System, to the Sega Genesis, the Sega CD, the Sega Saturn, the Sega Dreamcast, the PlayStation, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3 and now the PlayStation 4. I don’t even want to talk about how many hundreds, if not thousands of dollars me and my cousin Reese used to go through at Pinnochios Pizza on 4th Street, in-between University Avenue and Detroit on NBA JAM, Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter or on the amount of video games that we’d rent from Hastings or Blockbuster Video (R.I.P.!)
Enough with my video gaming background! Now-a-days, I like to play Call Of Duty: Black Ops III and I most recently picked up what this review is about: Star Wars: Battlefront!
I cheated a little, one of my buddies has an Xbox One (I don’t), and he downloaded Star Wars; Battlefront from the EA Access, which let us play the full game for 10 hours, starting on November 12th. So when Tuesday, November 17th rolled around, I casually made my way to GameStop, where I had pre-ordered the Star Wars: Battlefront Deluxe Edition and season pass.
Once I ripped open the packaging, like a kid on Christmas, inserted the game into the PlayStation, it took seconds to load (or so I thought!), then I realized, I could play as Darth Vader and do as much damage to the rebels while the actual game loaded, which took about 20-25 minutes. It was fun at first, but near the end, it got a bit tedious waiting for the game to load. I like the bad guys, but would rather have played as Luke Skywalker to start off or even Han Solo. There’s only so much playing as Darth Vader and throwing my lightsaber and Dark Side-choking I can do!
On to the game play! I did everything like I had never picked up the sticks before, even though I had on the Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 controls are a little different. I went through the training for the X-Wing Fighter, the Snow Speeder, Speeder Bike and then went on to play a couple of multi-player games. The graphics are UNREAL! If you’re a Call of Duty gamer, then this is VERY similar in gameplay styles. The only real difference, in Battlefront, you get to jump into vehicles from the Star Wars universe! No amount of walking on walls or temporarily floating in the air makes up for that. Sorry Call of Duty fans! LOL! Fighting The Empire while in an X-Wing Fighter is something I never thought I’d get to do again, since Super Star Wars on the Super Nintendo Entertainment System! By the way, that’s out on PlayStation 4 as well! You can buy Super Star Wars for your PS4 or PS Vita by CLICKING HERE!
I was half-way decent on everything, except the Speeder Bike in the forest of Endor. I don’t think I was intended to ever ride one of those, cause those damn trees kept on popping up on me and were pretty hard to avoid! LOL!
I’ll add on more and do another review as I get to play more on my PlayStation 4 as the play on the Xbox One doesn’t count, at least for me!
I’m a little biased, I have to admit, I LOVE EVERYTHING Star Wars related! I’ve been this way, since I was about 3 or 4 or somewhere around there, when I got to rent the VHS tape of Star Wars: A New Hope. I’ll never forget walking into Video Express and renting that movie, every single time my family went to rent movies!!!
GO GET STAR WARS BATTLEFRONT!!! It’s out on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 RIGHT NOW!
