Thanks to ComicBook.com, we have a “first look” at the upcoming Star Wars: Poe Dameron comic book series set to drop in April.
Charles Soule and Phil Noto will be handling the story and will take place after the events of Return Of The Jedi in the new direction that Disney is taking in what’s considered “canon.” The story will go into Poe Dameron’s parents and how he becomes “the best fighter pilot in the galaxy.”
Star Wars: Poe Dameron’s first issue also comes with a BB-8 backup, that is written and drawn by Chris Elipolous, as you can see above.
Han Solo is getting his own comic book series! Star Wars: Han Solo will be a five issue series set to release in June of this year, which will be mostly focused on what happens between Episodes IV and V:
“Basically, I was told that the story takes place between Episodes IV (The Empire Strikes Back) and V (Return Of The Jedi), and then they sort of just let me loose. I turned in several different ideas, but the core of them — what I kept at the front of my imagination: He’s this working-class dude who lives paycheck to paycheck who has a business to run,” Liu told EW. “He’s the Han we know and love. He’s a con artist, he’s a smuggler, he’s this wisecracking, streetwise dude, but he’s got this internal conflict where there wasn’t one before. He’s really trying to figure out who he is.”
To start off the comic, Han enters a starship race called the Dragon Void Run. The race is well known for the people that enter as well as how hard it is, exactly the type of race that Han would love. Also expected to appear in the comic: Chewbacca, Leia and bounty hunter Bossk.
