Broadway superstar of Hamilton, Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to join the cast of the movie sequel to the 1964 all time classic Mary Poppins. In an interview with Variety , he has this to say :
“It’s straight up a sequel, Michael and Jane Banks have grown up, and they find themselves in their own spot, and Mary Poppins comes back to take care of Michael’s kids. I play a lamplighter named Jack who sort of grew up apprenticing to Bert. So I know if Mary Poppins shows up, it’s gonna get awesome. I perform that function in the movie, of saying: ‘Y’all don’t know about Mary Poppins. When Mary’s around, cool sh– happens.’ “
Marry Poppins Returns will not hit the theater until December 25th 2018. However, the movie is already packed with multi award winning and nominees of director(Rob Marshall), producers(Rob Marshall, John DeLuca and Marc Platt), screen writer(David McGee), composer(Marc Shaiman) and song writers(Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman). The movie is a sequel to an all timed classic base on P.L. Travers. The sequel will draw materials from the seven additional novels from the author.
Mary Poppins Returns will set in the Depression era of London and follows the now grown up Bank children, Jane and Michael. Michale Bank is now with three children of his own. The family are visited by Mary Poppins after the Bank suffer a personal loss. Emily Blunt will take the role of Mary Poppins with Meryl Streep as her cousin Topsy. Ben Wishaw will play Michael Bank and Lin- Manuel Miranda will play Jack friend of Mary Poppins, a once apprentice to Bert(Dick Van Dyke’s original character of the 1964 film).
