The Red Turtle Official US Trailer -Sony Pictures

The 2016 Cannes Film Festival’s Un Certain Regard (Special Jury Prize) award film – The Red Turtle finally has a release date for North America. The Red Turtle is an animation movie written and directed by Michaël Dudok de Wit. He is a Dutch animator, illustrator and director base in London. He is known for his short animated films and won multiple awards internationally including an Academy Award for Best Short Animated Film, Father And Daughter. His films are stylistically simple without dialogue that explore the aspect of human life.  The Red Turtle is beautifully hand-drawned illustrations of a man shipwrecked on a tropical island inhabited by turtles and crabs. It’s a recount of the milestones of the life of a human. This is the first collaboration of Japan’s Studio Ghibli with France’s Wild Bunch to bring Michaël Dudok de Wit’s film to screen. The Red Turtle is set to released in North America by Sony Pictures  on January 17th 2017.  Check out some of the images and the official trailer below.
