With weeks away before the debut of Spider-Man: Homecoming, via an interview with a French outlet, AlloCine, Tom Holland had confirmed there will be a sequel of two solo Spider-Man movies after Spider-Man: Homecoming.
“Yes, there is what we call the arc of the character,” he said. “There is still a lot of room for Peter Parker and Spider-Man, especially, to grow in the next two movies. He’s definitely not the finished article by the end of Spider-Man: Homecoming and I really look forward to exploring the different ways he can grow up and go through puberty I guess. It’s going to be an exciting couple of movies.”
When asked by the interviewer if “a couple of movies” meant Spider-Man appearance in Avengers: Infinity War and as yet untitled Avengers 4, he clarified:
“There will be a Spider-Man 2 and 3. It won’t be Homecoming 2 and 3.”
When pressed about Tom Holland let slip of the yet unannounced third Spider-Man solo movie, the actor reacted with “Yeah, well now you know, sorry Marvel. Whoops!”. So there you have it folks. Looks like Spider-Man is going to be very busy in the next few years. Certainly speaks volume of the confidence Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios have with the rebooted wall crawler franchise. Spider-Man: Homecoming will open in theaters on July 7th.
