Exclusive: VR Game Raw Data Expand To Comics At SDCC

VR Gaming Studio Survios will introduce comic books to fans of the bestseller VR Game Raw Data with a new prequel series. Prequel Series Includes Creative Talent From “The 100,” “Justice League Action,” “The Woods” and “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles”.

The first issue called “Promotion Material” reveals the backstory of Simon Teller – the spunky robot sidekick in the game.  Written by Nick Bragg (CW’s The 100), with art by Michael Dialynas (Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesThe Woods), fans may not initially recognize this version of Simon, but they’ll soon find out how the character they’re reading about becomes the character they know from the game.

The comics are FREE for those attending SDCC, by visiting Survios VR Con, located at the Omni Hotel.

“It felt like the world of Raw Data was too big to be just a game,” said Jonathan Callan, Survios Senior Writer.  “We love comics, and we wanted each creator to bring his or her own style, to help spotlight all the different stuff that we know about this world that the player might not get to see.

LOS ANGELES (July 14, 2017) – Los Angeles-based virtual reality developer Survios announced today that it will be making its San Diego Comic Con debut with flagship title Raw Data.  The active VR combat game is the first VR-exclusive title to top Steam’s Global Sales Charts, earning $1 million in sales in its first month.  Now Survios will introduce comic fans to the Raw Data world with a new prequel series.

“Promotion Material” kicks off the run, by revealing the backstory of Simon Teller – the spunky robot sidekick in the game.  Written by Nick Bragg (CW’s The 100), with art by Michael Dialynas (Teenage Mutant Ninja TurtlesThe Woods), fans may not initially recognize this version of Simon, but they’ll soon find out how the character they’re reading about becomes the character they know from the game.

“It felt like the world of Raw Data was too big to be just a game,” said Jonathan Callan, Survios Senior Writer.  “We love comics, and we wanted each creator to bring his or her own style, to help spotlight all the different stuff that we know about this world that the player might not get to see.

The comics were managed by Callan (Cartoon Network’s Justice League Action) and Survios Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder James Iliff.  The first will be given out at Survios events throughout Comic Con.  In addition, Callan and Iliff will be speaking at panels throughout the event, along with company CEO and Co-founder Nathan Burba. The earliest,Simulated Worlds: Writing for VR and Games, will be the first place fans can grab the debut installment, as well as meet the company’s founders.  After that, it will be available at the company’s booth at VR Con, located inside the Omni Hotel.

Survios’ Comic Con presence comes on the heels of the final Early Access update to Raw Data, adding new features.  Among these are the brand-new Hostile Takeover Player vs. Player (PvP) expansion, the game’s latest hero, Elder, the Rogue Hunter, and Soul Decrypt: the most ambitious mission of the entire game, set in Eden’s lush Botanical Gardens.

“Going to battle against other human players in VR is insanely exciting, and now you can fight online as your favoriteRaw Data heroes, putting your skills and style to the ultimate test.  Our community has been asking for player vs player combat and we are thrilled to be delivering this PvP expansion. For free,” said James Iliff, Survios Chief Creative Officer and Co-founder.  “Now you can be an awesome badass and hone your technique in the most fast-paced and visceral combat experience yet.”
