Android is the most widely used mobile operating system in the world and also the most targeted by cybercriminals. It’s not uncommon to see news about apps being distributed within the Google Play app store, which somehow dodged the security of Google’s official app store.
Google launches “Google Play Protect” to ensure the safety of Android apps
Google has just released an exclusive security feature that scans applications installed on the user’s device to ensure that applications are free of any malware or viruses.
Google Play Protect acts sort of an official antivirus from the Google Play store, running uninterrupted all day automatically. After rummaging through the store and smartphone, if a problem is found the user will be notified.
This new tool is built into Google Play Services 11 and will also be made available in previous versions of Play Services as well. It’s now available for users, gradually expanding and will soon be available to all users.
