It Looks As If Game Of Thrones Showrunners Won’t Have Anything To Do With Spin-Offs

Yes, you read the headline correctly. David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, creators/showrunners for HBO’s highly successful Game Of Thrones, won’t be having anything to do with the spin-offs that were announced earlier this year. The duo will instead take on a new series, titled CONFEDERATE.

Here’s what CONFEDERATE will basically be about:

CONFEDERATE chronicles the events leading to the Third American Civil War. The series takes place in an alternate timeline, where the southern states have successfully seceded from the Union, giving rise to a nation in which slavery remains legal and has evolved into a modern institution. The story follows a broad swath of characters on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Demilitarized Zone — freedom fighters, slave hunters, politicians, abolitionists, journalists, the executives of a slave-holding conglomerate and the families of people in their thrall.

CONFEDERATE was originally thought of as being a movie, but will instead become a series, with the duo’s success running Game Of Thrones. Production will begin once Game Of Thrones wraps up it’s final season.
