Harvey Awards to Debut at New York Comic Con in 2018

 

ReedPOP announced today that one of the comic book industry’s biggest annual events – the Harvey Awards – will move to the home of legendary cartoonist Harvey Kurtzman with its debut at New York Comic Con in 2018.

The Harvey Awards, which celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2018, is one of the most prestigious awards a creator can receive. The Harveys have long recognized outstanding achievements, honoring industry professionals including artists, writers, letterers, editors, and designers. Named after Harvey Kurtzman, the late comic genius who is best remembered for creating MAD, the Harveys are returning to the birthplace of comics – New York City.

“We are thrilled to host such an iconic award show during one of the biggest comic events of the year, New York Comic Con,” said Lance Fensterman, Global Head of ReedPOP. “We are even more excited to honor the life and work of the late great Harvey Kurtzman here in his hometown, while celebrating the industry’s best work.”

The 2017 awards will be replaced with a reception, honoring Harvey Kurtzman’s legacy and the Harvey Awards, for creators, professionals, and fans. The reception will be at the Hudson Annex 38 on Saturday, Oct 7 from 8:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

Harvey Kurtzman (1924–1993), creator of MAD and Playboy’s Little Annie Fanny, was a cartoonist and pop culture humorist.
