Toho Pictures has released online a new trailer for its upcoming anime feature Godzilla: Planet of the Monster. Produced by Toho Animation and animated by Polygon Pictures, this film is the 32nd Godzilla film in the famous monster franchise but it is the first animated feature for the popular kaiju. Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is also the first of the animated trilogy film. It will be release in Japan for theatrical run on November 17th and will premiere on Netflix world-wide later in the year.
Here is the synopsis for Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters:
In the year 2048, the human race is forced to leave Earth after decades of losing against Godzilla and other giant monsters. They take a twenty year journey to another planet called Tau Ceti e, but upon arrival, they discover that the planet has become uninhabitable. As living conditions on their ship deteriorate, a young man named Haruo spearheads a movement to return to Earth and take it back from the monsters. The ship successfully makes the return voyage, but the crew discovers that twenty thousand years have passed and Earth’s ecosystem has evolved, with Godzilla reigning atop the new food chain.
Godzilla: Planet of the Monsters is directed by Kobun Shizuno(Detective Conan series) and Hiroyuki Seshita(Ajin, Blame, Knights of Sidonia) and it is written by Gen Urobuchi(Psycho-Pass). The voice cast includes Mamoru Miyano, Takahiro Sakurai, Kana Hanazawa,Yuki Kaji, Tomokazu Sugita, Junichi Suwabe, Daisuke Ono, Kente Miyake, Kenyu Horiuchi, Kazuya Nakai and Kazuhiro Yamaji.
