HBO has released the official trailer for its upcoming interactive series, Mosaic. The video game like series allow viewers via a downloadable free app to choose different characters, story plot points that leads to various conclusions at the end.
Presented by PodOp and developed for HBO by Steven Soderbergh(Ocean’s 11 franchise) and Casey Silver(The Forbidden Kingdom, Hidalgo), in conjunction with writer Ed Solomon(Men in Black, Now You See Me), the MOSAIC app is an interactive storytelling experience, available as a free download in November, that will be followed by a six-part limited series that will air on HBO in January 2018. Sharon Stone(Toatal Recall, Basic Instinct) stars, along with Garrett Hedlund(Tron, Troy), Frederick Weller(Armageddon), Beau Bridges(Bloodline), Paul Reubens(Pee-Wee Herman), Jennifer Ferrin(Hell on Wheels), Devin Ratray(Nebraska), Michael Cerveris(Leaving Circadia), James Ransone(Sinister), Jeremy Bobb(The Knick) and Maya Kazan(The Knick). Three years in the making, the MOSAIC app allows viewers to choose what point-of-view from which to follow the story and to, in effect, build their own experience from the material Soderbergh and Solomon created. The choices one makes build upon one another, enabling multiple tellings of the story from different perspectives and, sometimes, with different conclusions. Viewers will be able to see how their own versions of the story on the app ultimately compare to Soderbergh’s six-part linear narrative in January.
