Thank you to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment and STX Films/STX Entertainment for allowing me to review the Den Of Thieves Blu-Ray Combo Pack! At the bottom of the post, you can also find out how you can enter to win yourself a Blu-Ray Combo Pack!

Right from the start, this movie is intense! You see present day Los Angeles, California, a.k.a. the Bank Robbery Capitol Of The World! The crew that includes Rey Merrimen (Pablo Schreiber), Donnie Wilson (O’Shea Jackson Jr.), Bo “Bosco” Ostroman (Evan Jones) and Enson Levoux (50 Cent a.k.a. Curtis Jackson) are seen trying to take an armored truck that usually carries money from location to location to bank. They have some technical help from Mack (Cooper Andrews) as far as listening to police radio and GPS mapping/tracking. This shows the crew working together in different parts, which sets up some of the backstory for the main plot. One of the armored truck guards that they held up, drops his coffee and reaches for his gun. They kill the man and turns the crew into “cop killers.” Apparently, this is something they were trying to avoid for many reasons, but one specific one being, so that there wouldn’t be as much “heat” on them while trying to conduct other jobs.

Big Nick O’Birien (Gerard Butler) and his sheriff deputies put together video evidence, surveillance pictures and strong arm one of the believed suspects, Wilson (Jackson Jr.) into giving them details on what the big heist will be. Butler actually fits the role pretty well and the movie brings out something we haven’t really seen from a character that he’s played on screen, making his performance truly believable.

The rest of the movie is Merrimen and O’Brien trying to one-up the other and make him look really bad while doing it. Including a meeting between both the sherriff’s and Merrimen’s crew, including Wilson (Jackson Jr.) who is made to look like a snitch. O’Brien’s home life is also taking it’s toll on him while doing his job, adding extra pressure to get things taken care of Merrimen and crew to try to figure things out at home.

The big job is a federal reserve bank. They make their way in and also out The details are what you need to play close attention to.

The plot twist is definitely not something I wasn’t expecting! There is a LOT of intensity, violence and guns!

Rating: B+
