Video Game Developers Daybreak are set to release H1Z1 on the PS4 in Open Beta!
Until now, H1Z1 has always been a PC exclusive game. It was one of the original games to provide a battle royale mode (before PUBG or Fortnite). The upcoming PS4 version is FREE to play and will be in open beta starting from tomorrow (MAY 22, 2018). Further improvements are planned for the game and the developers have promised more content updates as well.
It looks like a super enjoyable Battle Royale game and seems to provide a much more serious tone to that found in Fortnite. Approximately 100 players land on the map and must fight until only one remains.

H1Z1 HAS BEEN REIMAGINED AND BUILT SPECIFICALLY FOR CONSOLE. NEW WEAPON POWER PROGRESSION, FASTER MOVING GAS, MORE AIRDROPS AND VEHICLES TO PUSH THE ACTION. NATURAL CONSOLE CONTROLS AND 60FPS ON PS4 PRO. NO BUILDING AND NO CRAFTING…NOTHING BUT PURE BR ACTION. THE BATTLE ROYALE GAME THAT STARTED IT ALL. PARACHUTE IN AND HIT THE GROUND RUNNING. WHETHER IN SOLO, 2-PLAYER, OR 5-PLAYER MODE, GRAB WEAPONS AND GEAR, AND LISTEN CLOSELY FOR THOSE TOXIC GAS WARNING SIRENS.
It must be noted that this is not a simple PS4 port. The game has been heavily optimised for console. For example, the inventory management system has been changed and the match time limits have been shortened to provide a much more intense experience on console. Many other UI changes have also been made to the game. It is definitely worth trying out if you have a PS4!

In preparation for Tuesday’s Open Beta launch on PS4, all H1Z1 PS4 servers will lock at the conclusion of the 6-8PM PDT playtest on Sunday, May 20. Starting at midnight (12AM) on May 22 in your region’s local time, you will be able to pre-download H1Z1 from the PlayStation Store. All H1Z1 PS4 servers will unlock for play around the world at 9AM PDT on Tuesday, May 22
