The London Spitfire began with a victory in the grand finals of the Overwatch League 2018, defeating the Philadelphia Fusion by 3-1.
On a sold out Barclay’s Center in New York, the London team gets closer to winning the title and a million-dollar prize pool of $ 1 million.
The grand finale of the inaugural tournament is in the MD3 format with the final clashes is taking place this Saturday, July 28, with a live broadcast on Twitch.
The first duel of the grand finals took place on the Dorado map with the Philadelphia Fusion starting off with a very offensive strategy, taking the map 3-2. In the next match the London Spitfire changed the strategy and came ofensivly to beat Fusion to take the Oasis map.
With the score tied at 1-1, the teams made a big duel well disputed in the hybrid Eichenwalde map with Fusion oppening the score in overtime, but ended up losing to 1-2.
The fourth and final clash of the first day of the final happened on the Volskaya Industries map with Fusion on a defensive strategy, taking the duel on overtime and again with the Spitfire coming from behind in the dispute to secure the victory and making 3-1 in the series.
The games start at 3pm CT on July 28. The first match will be streamed on Twitch, MLG, Disney XD, and ESPN3. The finals will be re-run at 8pm CT on ESPN2.
