Electronic Arts recently announced that General Grievous will be a playable character in Battlefront 2 very soon!

General Grievous was an awesome character in the Star Wars prequels. He could even use 4 lightsabers at once (these lightsabers were all collected from Jedi Knights he had defeated). He is a very memorable character if you enjoyed the Star Wars prequels. EA has been adding a lot of free Clone Wars content to their Battlefront 2 game. I recently got back into Star Wars Battlefront 2 and have been enjoying it a lot.

Here is what EA said about General Grievous, including his background and motivation for hunting Jedi:

“General Grievous – Lethal droid commander. Brilliant strategist. Feared Jedi hunter. He’s earned many monikers, and on October 30, the General Grievous Update** will bring the dreaded commander’s mercilessness to Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II. A towering Kaleesh, the mere presence of General Grievous caused unease amongst his enemies. After sustaining a critical injury, Grievous’ body was transformed, and he was later taught the art of lightsaber combat by the Sith Lord Count Dooku – becoming a true embodiment of terror. He was the Supreme Commander for the Confederacy of Independent Systems, or Separatist Alliance, in the Clone Wars against the Galactic Republic. Throughout the war, he led the droid armies in battles across the galaxy and encountered the Jedi and General Obi-Wan Kenobi numerous times. He escaped almost as many. Fostered through their clashes, General Grievous formed an arch nemesis relation to the Jedi Master.”

He will also be playable with his battle damaged appearance:

General Grievous has a base attack which involves two sabers at once. He can also defend himself using these sabers. His special signature abilities use four lightsabers. These signature moves have been heavily inspired by his actual moves from the movie. This ensures that players get an authentic Star Wars movie experience in this game. It is something EA has done very well in Battlefront 2. Here are his abilities:

  • Thrust Surge:The attack thrusts Grievous forward with all four lightsabers in a stabbing motion, dealing damage and throwing the target to the ground.’
  • Unrelenting Advance: ‘Grievous forms a spinning lightsaber wall in front of him, with sparks igniting from the floor, as he advances like a horrifying machine. Going into Unrelenting Advance, General Grievous blocks all frontal attacks while dealing damage to anyone foolishly standing in his way.’
  • Claw Rush: ‘Claw Rush Ability lets him flee the scene in the blink of an eye. Once activated, he goes down on all six limbs and rushes forward, damaging and pushing opponents out of his path. An unsettling sight for enemies to behold – and highly efficient when in urgent need of an escape route.’

Future Updates:

A future update, on November 28th, will bring the Battle of Geonosis to Battlefront 2. This includes a playable Obi-Wan Kenobi and the planet of Geonosis in Galactic Assault mode!

The General Grievous update will come on OCTOBER 30, 2018 to Star Wars Battlefront 2!
