First and foremost, thank you to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for allowing me the opportunity to review the SMALLFOOT Blu-Ray Combo Pack!

The first thing that I’ll say about Smallfoot, is that the movie has one heck of a voice cast, including: Channing Tatum, James Corden ,Common, LeBron James, Zendaya, Danny Devito, Gina Rodriguez, Patricia Heaton and so many more! The next thing that stands out to me, is that this story is definitely needed with everything going on in the world. The message the movie is sending: there’s a beauty to understanding that things aren’t always right, even if it’s what you were taught your entire life. The one constant in life is EVOLUTION.

The premise of the movie is that a Yeti finding out that a “Smallfoot” or human being exists and not just in the legend written on the stones that dictate how the Yeti live. Each Yeti performs a job in the village, doing it the way that has been dictated for quite a while by the legends written on stones. Dorgle (Dany DeVito) starts each day by shooting himself via a giant slingshot and hitting  a gong with his head and rock helmet, doing so summons the giant orange snail, also known as the sun. The villagers do their jobs as they are told, even if there are simpler ways of doing them, as not to go against the stones and their leader. Migo (Channing Tatum) is the Yeti that finds Smallfoot. He immediately goes back to his village to tell everyone of his findings, but when some of the villagers follow him to where he had seen the Smallfoot, the human and everything associated with it (plane) are gone and no signs of it ever being there are left behind. When the villagers and more importantly, Stonekeeper (Common), the village leader, call shennanigans, Migo is banished from the village.

Upon doing as he’s told and leaving, Migo runs into a group of Yeti that are interested in finding a Smallfoot to disprove the stones and their legend. The group includes: Gwangi (LeBron James), Kolka (Gina Rodriguez) and Fleem (Ely Henry), known as the S.E.S. – Smallfoot Evidentiary Society, comes up with a plan of lowering Migo below the clouds so he can see what is out there in the great beyond and unkown. The legend story says the Yeti live above the clouds with their mountain floating, being held up by pillars. When Migo is lowered by the group, the rope snaps and he falls til he hits the ground below.

After falling, Migo searches the area. He finds a village. Percy Patterson (James Corden), a wildlife documentary filmmaker, who is accused of losing his integrity by his assistant Brenda (Yara Shahidi). Patterson had tried to convince Brenda to dress up as a Yeti so he could film her and try to keep his TV show and make ends meet. Migo tries to communicate with Patterson to convince him to come back to the village with him, so he can show the rest of the Yeti that he was not wrong and Smallfoots do exist.

When Migo shows up with Percy at the village, the villagers are amazed. They have all sorts of questions about the Smallfoot along with the legends that the stones told. All of the happenings rub the Stonekeeper the wrong way. He convinces Migo to have a meeting with him in a cave. In the cave, the truth is revealed, that Yeti used to live below the clouds but had to look for other means of survival, due to the Smallfoot hunting them. Part of keeping Yeti safe was also creating the stones to convince everyone of their “legend.”  During the cave meeting, once Migo understands he is in a catch-22, Percy is kept behind. Migo tells the village and even the S.E.S. that he agrees with everything the Stonekeeper has been saying all along, disappointing EVERYONE, especially Meechee (Zendaya), who has always caught Migo’s eye.

The animation is top notch, the voice cast is the same and the story is a really good one! The bonus features will have you watching the movie at least one more time with the sing-alongs.
