Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an upcoming Single Player Star Wars game by Respawn Entertainment and EA. Read on to see why I am excited about this game!

First of all, Happy Star Wars day!

Last year on Star Wars day I posted about some of the classic Star Wars video games I had the privilege of playing throughout the years. You can check out that post here. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order is a third person, story focused, single player action game featuring an original Star Wars story. This is something we haven’t seen for a while in the Star Wars gaming world. The Star Wars universe is so large and full of rich, detailed worlds as well as fascinating characters. There is a lot of storytelling potential and I am glad developers may finally be taking advantage of this again. Classic Star Wars games such as Knights of the Old Republic, Jedi Academy and various others gave players a whole range of genres to choose from. These games included RPG’s. racing games, third person action games and more. Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order has the potential to provide a fresh Star Wars experience for gamers on modern consoles / PC’s.

Current Star Wars Games:

Over the last few years we haven’t had many single player Star Wars games at all, due to the closure of LucasArts etc. However, Electronic Arts currently have the rights to develop Star Wars games and made modern versions of the Star Wars Battlefront series. The most recent Star Wars game is Battlefront 2. This had a rocky start but with EA and DICE continuing to support it with free updates and content; this game has improved A LOT and I highly recommend it to Star Wars fans. Star Wars Battlefront 2 has a single player campaign which is a lot of fun but not as long as I wanted it to be. This is  understandable considering Battlefront 2 has a huge online portion with massive battles and tons of different types of multiplayer matches / modes. This game has excellent sound design and graphics which really capture the Star Wars experience well. Check out this trailer by EA which showcased a free content update for Battlefront 2:

The forces of the Galactic Republic and Separatists clash in Capital Supremacy – an immersive, Clone Wars-era authentic experience in Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II – where nonlinear ground battles fuse with the thrill of invading capital ships and taking them down. Plus, deploy as two additional reinforcements, the Infiltrator class ARC Trooper and BX Commando Droid, and fight across Pipeline Junction West on Geonosis – a new location launched alongside Capital Supremacy!

Battlefront 2 is a great game for those wanting to experience intense battles against or with friends. Many of these battles are based on various iconic scenes from the Star Wars universe (from movies, tv shows etc).

What is Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order?

Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order will let us play as a young Jedi on the run. The main character is played by actor Cameron Monaghan (well known for his role as the Joker in the Gotham tv series). The game is set after the events of Star Wars Episode 3: Revenge of the Sith movie. Here is the synopsis and trailer:

Cal Kestis—one of the last surviving members of the Jedi Order after the purge of Order 66—is now a Padawan on the run. Experience this all-new single-player Star Wars™ story from Respawn Entertainment and EA Star Wars on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC this holiday season, 15 November 2019. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order is an action-adventure game set after Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith™. Develop your Force abilities, hone your lightsaber techniques, and explore the ancient mysteries of a long-lost civilization—all while staying one step ahead of the Empire and its deadly Inquisitors.

Here are some of the game features:

  • Lightsaber Combat: Hone lightsaber combat forms to refine striking, blocking, and dodging your enemies. Use your Jedi weapon and the Force to take on any challenge.
  • An original Star Wars story: As one of the last Jedi, you must do whatever it takes to survive. Complete your training before the Inquisitors discover your plan to rebuild the Jedi Order.
  • Environments: Explore ancient forests, windswept cliffs, and haunted jungles as you decide when and where you want to go next.

I personally hope this game does very well. I want to see even more original stories set within the Star Wars universe. As I mentioned before, there is a lot of potential for some amazing Star Wars games going forward, using modern hardware. Personally, I would love to also see a new Star Wars RPG at some point!
