First and foremost, thank you to Warner Bros. Home Entertainment for allowing me to review the 4K Ultra HD Combo pack of Justice League!

The thing that played on the discs that I need next in my life, is Justice League VR “Become The Hero.” The game looks absolutely amazing!

Back to the movie. I saw Justice League in theaters 3 times, once in IMAX.

Now when I tell you that I enjoyed the movie at home, maybe more than in the theater, that’s my opinion and I’m sticking to it! I just missed the popcorn machine from the theater… Along with my usual movie companion 14-year old daughter, we also had my 12-year old son and 4-year old cousin in the house with us. The 4-year old had never seen the movie at theaters. My kids had seen it three times. The first thing that came from my kids, “dad, this picture is SO CLEAR.” I like having a few different people watch movies with me so I can gauge their response to the movie. The 4-year old sat through the entire movie without so much as a peep. He also wanted to watch EVERY. SINGLE. BONUS. FEATURE! That’s how much he loved the movie.

My favorite comic book character is Batman. So much so, that within the Nothing But Geek Telegram and formerly BlackBerry Messenger group chats, we’ve debated on if Batman is a superhero, since, he doesn’t really have super powers. I like Ben Affleck as Batman/Bruce Wayne. The cast of Justice League pretty much fits perfectly, Henry Cavill is Superman/Clark Kent, Ezra Miller as The Flash/Barry Allen, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman/Diana Prince, Jason Momoa as Aquaman/Arthur Curry and Ray Fisher as Cyborg/Victor Stone.

Affleck’s Bruce Wayne goes on an adventure, after he encounters a parademon, when exploding, leaves a sign of three squares on the wall. He feels that something is coming and wants to prepare in advance. Wayne then speaks with Gadot’s Diana Prince about convincing other metahumans to come together as a group. During the recruiting, they learn the three squares left behind by the parademon represent mother boxes. Steppenwolf, the villain, appears, first attacking Themyscira, looking for the first of the mother boxes. Prince is sent a message that only she would recognize, to alert her of Themyscira being attacked. Steppenwolf then sets off to find th eother two mother boxes, one being entrusted with the Atlanteans under water and the other with the people of Earth. Gadot and Wayne have to do some convincing with Cyborg and Aquaman, but The Flash jumps right in feet first.

The team of individuals have to go through things a sports team normally would. Normally, a superstar can carry a team, but they work better together within the confines of the team.

The only complaint I have, is the battle scene at the end could have been a little more crisp visually.

The Special Features:

The special features alone are worth the cost of the 4K Ultra HD/3D Blu-Ray/Blu-Ray/Digital HD purchase. The kids wanted to sit and watch all of them. They were intrigued by the way the actors and CGI were used to make the movie, especially Cyborg’s suit.

The Return of Superman: A pair of brief deleted sequences featuring the Man of Steel.

Road to Justice: A look at the history of the Justice League from the original comics to the big screen film.

Heart of Justice: The cast and crew discuss their love of the Justice League’s most iconic characters.

Technology of the Justice League: Exploring Batman, The Flash, and Cyborg’s technology.

Justice League: The New Heroes: Ray Fisher discussing the new members of the group: Cyborg, Aquaman, and The Flash.

Steppenwolf the Conqueror: A brief examination of the film’s villain.

Scene Studies: A series of featurettes that delves into some of the film’s big scenes, including returning to the Amazons, the fight with Superman, and the tunnel battle.

Suit Up: The Look of the League: A featurette that focuses on the Justice League’s costumes.

The Audio:

The score is top notch, especially when you’re hearing it through Dolby Atmos for the home theater environment. Danny Elfman did an amazing job.

The Video:

The quality of the picture is OUTSTANDING! Featuring Dolby Vision HDR that makes the darkest of darks stand out, especially when scenes take place at night with Batman (near the beginning of the movie). The bright places also stand out, including under water in Atlantis and at the end of the movie, when the team takes on Steppenwolf.

4K Ultra HD Combo Pack RATING: B+
