Sony and Quantic Dream have announced that their upcoming neo-noir thriller Detroit: Become Human has a demo available NOW!
Quantic Dream are one of my favourite developers. Their other games include Heavy Rain and Beyond: Two Souls. Both were brilliant, story driven, cinematic, interactive games. I am really looking forward to Detroit: Become Human. Here is the official synopsis and original announcement trailer:
In a dystopian vision of our near future, Detroit is the story of three androids, three machines designed to obey, who start to feel emotions. Confronted with persecution and the violence of society, they will all have to decide who they want to be. Connor is a prototype designed to help human investigators on cases involving androids; Kara becomes a fugitive by empathising with a little girl, united in their dream of freedom; Markus will become the leader of the android revolution. The player will control all three in turn, taking control of their destinies, and telling not only their individual stories, but also the story of their people and of their world.
Quantic Dream are known for their branching storylines and multiple endings. This makes each game playthrough feel more unique and different. Quantic Dream are brilliant story tellers and don’t shy away from including more controversial storylines in video games. Their games are mature and very interesting. Heavy Rain, for example, let me make multiple choices in the game and I even went back and replayed it multiple times in order to see how my decisions could change the ending. Detroit: Become Human will also feature a lot of these choices as mentioned below by Quantic Dream:
The fate of Connor, Kara and Markus is in your hands, along with the fate of all other characters in the game. Through your decisions and actions, you will have the opportunity to become the writer, the director and the main protagonist of the most branching story we have ever created.
This is something which I am really looking forward to experiencing for myself. If you are a PS4 owner, its worth downloading the DEMO now to see how the game is. With the demo announcement, Quantic Dream also announced that the game has gone gold – which means it’s completed and ready to ship on the release date.
Detroit: Become Human is set for release on 25th May, 2018!
