Thanks to Universal Pictures Home Entertainment, Nothing But Geek had the opportunity to interview director Don Michael Paul in anticipation of Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy’s release next Tuesday (October 2nd)!
NBGeek: Thanks for taking the time out of your busy schedule to answer a few questions for us! I know you’re busy scouting locations for that next project. Let’s dive right in. Aside from the original Death Race, did any movies lend any influence to Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy?
Don Michael Paul: A lifetime of watching and loving movies influences every movie I make.
NBGeek: What made each of the actors work so well together as a cast?
DMP: I had time to cast which I don’t always have. It’s a real experience to put people together that you think might have chemistry. I try to find personalities that will explode when they’re mixed together. And this one I got right. The cast was crazy, fun and embraced the insanity of the world.
NBGeek: I know there is a constant motion going on during action scenes, specifically with driving and some of the stunts, is there ever something you didn’t get to include as far as stunt work goes?
DMP: Yes there’s always stuff I miss. The budgets are getting smaller so it’s very hard to realize all that’s in my mind. The goal is to minimize the misses and maximize the wins. I think we did pretty good on this one.
NBGeek: Without giving anything away, could the Death Race series continue after Beyond Anarchy?
DMP: Perhaps! I can smell the burning rubber!
NBGeek: We have time for one more question. Now that Death Race 4: Beyond Anarchy’s release is imminent, what is the next thing that you’re working on?
DMP: Scorpion King: Book of Souls comes out on October 23, also starring Zach McGowan!

Synopsis:
