Google recently revealed the Pixel Slate Tablet at their ‘Made By Google’ event!
The NEW Pixel Slate runs Chrome OS and comes with a choice of specifications (depending on your price range). It features a new ‘molecular display’ and has a whole range of cool accessories that you can purchase alongside it. It has an awesome 12.3 inch display, cameras, a fingerprint sensor, great speakers and more!
Check out the Pixel Slate in the video below, which was uploaded by Google on their Youtube Page:
Chrome OS:
Chrome OS originally launched on Chromebooks. Google has improved it a lot since it first launched and has brought it to the Pixel Slate. The Pixel Slate runs Chrome OS so it can provide both a desktop and touch screen tablet style experience to users. Chrome OS can run popular Android Apps as well and even supports Linux apps. Chrome OS has great multitasking features and is light and responsive. Chrome OS also comes with the Google Assistant and all the usual Google apps such as YouTube, Gmail etc.
The Pixel Slate can be used as a tablet as well as a desktop workstation after connecting external accessories such as a keyboard, monitor and mouse. Since Chrome OS is Google’s own operating system; it will continue to receive updates after launch (including security and feature updates).
Pixel Slate Options:
There are different options available when it comes to the specs for the Pixel Slate. Each option has a different processor, RAM amount and hard drive storage size. For example, the basic version contains an Intel Celeron processor with 4GB RAM whereas the more expensive option contains an Intel i7 processor with 16GB RAM. It really depends on how the user plans to use the device (i.e do you need it for gaming, heavy video / photo editing or just basic browsing?).
