Host Craig Robinson is back in the Black History Month series that takes us on a visual journey into the lives, ideas, and purpose of a diverse group of Black innovators and creators who are leaving their mark on the world. This season spotlights celebrity dog groomer Ashley Ann, ice cream scientist Dr. Maya Warren, NASCAR pit crew member Brehanna Daniels, and many more.
EPISODE 1 (February 1st):
We catch up with Craig from a new location: the secret mountain lair known as the Fortress of Blackness. Like in Season 2, we kick off with an all-female story roster, with segments about celebrity dog groomer Ashley Ann (in a completely animated short), ice cream scientist Dr. Maya Warren; and NASCAR pit crew member Brehanna Daniels.
EPISODE 2 (February 2nd):
Opening in Craig’s fortress kitchen, we kick off a very eclectic episode, starting with a short about Down North Pizza, a Philly pizza shop that exclusively hires the formerly incarcerated. We meet Ezekiel Mitchell, professional bull rider and cowboy at heart, and the episode ends with a short comedic film by Symone Baptiste about a woman who discovers a beetle in her apartment and becomes unhinged.
EPISODE 3 (February 3rd):
Speaking of bugs, in the first (hybrid animation) short we meet entomologist, bee-saver, and musician Dr. Sammy. We may also meet some insects IRL at Craig’s fortress before we move on to segments with Samantha Josaphat, the 397th Black woman to become a licensed architect, and Keturah Bobo, artist and children’s book illustrator.
EPISODE 4 (February 4th):
In the season finale, we watch potter Kristina Batiste at the wheel, are treated to a new short film by Casiano Hamer about conflicting identity and family drama, and jump out of a plane with adventure athlete and diversity champion Danielle Williams. And it wouldn’t be a YAP season finale without a special jam sesh with Craig Robinson at the keyboard to close it out!
