Rockstar Games recently revealed ARENA WAR; a new mode for GTA Online!
Arena War is an action and destruction filled mode where players can compete in a series of events using highly customisable vehicles. Arena War takes place in the Maze Bank Arena, a location GTA players will know. Here is the official synopsis and brand new trailer:
Enter Arena War, where ruthless gladiatorial combat meets the bleeding-edge of vehicular modification technology in one spectacular – and highly combustible – competition. Sign up and embark on an entirely new career under the stratospheric dome of the Maze Bank Arena, one that involves turning your opponent’s brains into pulp on the steering wheel in the name of entertainment, courtesy of Alan Jerome Productions. Compete in all new vehicle types custom-built for the Arena across seven explosive new modes. As your Arena War career progresses, you’ll earn Arena Points and use them to rank up and unlock even more toys to take into the Arena or out onto the streets. Arena War is now available in GTA Online.
Arena War consists of 7 types of events:
- CARNAGE: All out brawl using weaponised cars, bikes and trucks. The last player standing wins.
- FLAG WAR: A capture the flag mode using Arena War vehicles.
- WRECK IT: A lap race but with a twist- traps, obstacles and destruction make this pure chaos.
- TAG TEAM: A mode where you must work together to win.
- GAMES MASTERS: One team collects checkpoints, the other uses every fiendish tool the Arena has to offer to make their plans go up in smoke. After every round, you switch places.
- HERE COME THE MONSTERS: This event features awesome Monster Trucks!
- HOT BOMB: In Hot Bomb, one player has the bomb, and the only way to get rid of it is by crashing into someone else. Throw in a timer and a baying crowd, and survival of the fittest just got an upgrade.
Arena Workshop and Career
Those players who want to can purchase a new arena workshop and actually customise their own fleet of vehicles. The workshop also allows players to keep track of career progress. As players take part in events they can earn Arena points which can be used to get discounts on special outfits, upgrades and awesome modifications.
The Arena Contenders
Rockstar have said that there are 12 new arena contender vehicles available in the various styles shown above.
